Keep Glowing

The festive season takes its toll on all of us, especially on our skin. The effects of alcohol, diet, central heating and general lack of sunlight can cause dehydration and create a “sallow” and “tired” appearance to the skin. Here are my top tips and recommended products to re-hydrate, revitalise, and bring a little sparkle back to your skin!

Keep hydrated.
I know, it’s boring, but drinking lots of water really does work! The recommended amount is 8 glasses a day. Mix with some elderflower cordial or a dash of lime for a lovely refreshing taste.

Vitamins!
Vitamin E is great for the skin and has antioxidant qualities. Try Holland and Barrett Skin, Hair and Nails (RRP £13.49 for 120 tablets).

Try to get 8 hours sleep every night.
Lack of zzzz’s can take its toll on the skin. A few drops of lavender essential oil on your pillow should help send you off. Try Boots ‘Lavender Body and Space Spray’ (RRP £6.79)

Give yourself an intensive moisture treatment.
My favourites are: Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules, suitable for all skin types (RRP £58); Clarins Blue Orchid Face Oil (RRP £31.50) and Revitalift Day Cream by L’Oreal (RRP £13.99).

Mix some lip balm with your favourite lipstick.
It gives a lovely sheen and helps moisturise at the same time. I like Kiehls lip balm (RRP £9) – or just plain old Vaseline is great!

Put some colour back in your cheeks!
Brush a touch of pink blusher on the apples of your cheeks. You can find the “apples” by smiling in to the mirror. Apply to the area just below the cheekbone. Bobby Brown Blush in Pale Pink (RRP £16.50) gives a lovely “pinched cheek” effect. Dab some luminizer over the top to give a beautiful healthy glow. Nars, The Multiple, in Copacabana is great (RRP £27).
